Diverging from Western-style glassware, the cup underwent redesign with a focus on proportion harmony and drinking angle considerations. Through multiple design iterations, it embraced a wide-mouthed cup to enhance the release of multi-layered tea aromas. The upward curve division of the cup body offers a perfect fit for the hand, ensuring convenient handling while preserving the traditional “tea-serving” gesture, imbuing it with significance. Origins of Bubble Tea
In 1986, Taiwan's popular snack “tapioca pearls” was first added to flavored black tea, and in 1987, the founder named it “Bubble Tea”, breaking the boundary between snacks and tea drinks and officially launching it on the market. At that time, the combined area of the back areas of the Siwei Street store and the Fuhou store was only around 76 sqm. Despite the limited space, there were many tasks to handle, including providing freshly brewed tea, packaging braised dishes, selling tea leaves, conducting tea roasting assessments, and holding regular meetings.
The birth of Mu Xi Tang
To cater to diverse preferences in service offerings and ambiance, Chun Shui Tang established a separate section known as “Mu Xi Tang”. While “Chun Shui Tang” specializes in serving hot and cold tea, tea-based snacks, and refined meals, “Mu Xi Tang” is dedicated to Gongfu tea service, offering a wide selection of tea varieties and tea utensils from various regions.

Photographic artworks decorate stores
Mr. Liu, Han-Chieh, the founder of Chun Shui Tang (also known under the courtesy name “Gan Hou”), adorned the business premises with photographic artworks and established a club for photography enthusiasts, sparking learning among peers in the industry.
The nascent stages of Chun Shui Tang
Chun Shui Tang's Fuhou store in Taichung was established, and due to different product and content requirements, the store began to split into two types of services:
1. Providing hot and cold teas, tea snacks, and exquisite meals.
2. Offering Gongfu tea brewing, selling tea utensils, and various teas from different regions, laying the groundwork for Chun Shui Tang's future business model.
Pioneering the era of cold tea beverages
Chun Shui Tang innovated using cocktail shakers to brew the first “Foam Black Tea”, transforming traditionally hot-brewed tea into refreshing and sweet iced tea. This innovation revolutionized tea culture. Subsequently, semi-fermented teas were also adapted into cold drinks, introducing products such as Dongding Tea and Champagne (White Tip) Oolong Cold Tea.
Before Chun Shui Tang
“Yangxian Tea House” was founded in Taichung, Taiwan, laying the foundation for Chun Shui Tang's cultural tea house concept. It focused on offering high-quality semi-fermented teas and promoted the “Two-Cup” tea drinking technique, which emphasized the three-step tea appreciation process of observing color, aroma, and taste. Furthermore, it introduced the four arts of Song Dynasty living, including flower arrangement, hanging paintings, burning incense, and tea appreciation, making it one of the first tea houses in Taiwan to incorporate such cultural practices.
